Receiving & Distribution Coordinator

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 77,000 pilots at 41 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks a Receiving & Distribution Coordinator for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The Receiving & Distribution Coordinator is responsible for the distribution of Association department mail, FedEx/UPS shipping, receiving, and distribution services for the Association's national offices. They may also provide support to facilities and purchasing teams. Must be able to lift and move packages and boxes up to one hundred (100) pounds.

Local travel: 5 - 10%.

Minimum Requirements:

    High school diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Three (3) years of related experience is required.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of the U.S. Postal Service and overnight shipping vendors, including filing insurance claims through USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
  • Have a general understanding of the language/terms used in shipping logistics.
  • Basic knowledge of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) regarding customs duties and taxes.
  • Able to adapt to continuous changes in domestic/international shipping regulations.
  • Able to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Solid customer service and communications skills.
  • Basic computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • General building maintenance familiarity.
  • Must provide a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a safe driving record for a minimum of two years. A recent copy of DMV record required (before the start date, if offered the position).

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and the local metropolitan area. May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to one hundred (100) pounds (lbs.). May be responsible for moving, raising, reaching, and/or retrieving binders, boxes, cases, and/or files. (Assistance may not always be available.)
