About the Role

The Customer Quality Engineer will work with our OEM customer and extended Harman team to resolve quality issues resulting from design and/or manufacturing discrepancies..

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct and/or indirect reports.

What You Will Do

  • Act as an assistant project manager to Director, Customer Quality
  • Develop project charters for Quality Academy updates and new requirements.
  • Assist in creating a Quality Academy landing page on the HARMAN HUB.
  • Work with multifunctional teams (Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Field Service, Sales) to drive resolution for product complaints.
  • Support and maintain policies and practices related to manufacturing support of 0km issues at customer assembly plants and quality situations related to product application in vehicles.
  • Support APQP activities with customers and Harman manufacturing to facilitate PPAP submission according to customer schedule.
  • Assist internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems, investigating and solving manufacturing-related problems.
  • Define specifications for new projects requested by quality process owners.
  • Learn about problem solving, failure analysis, and closed-loop quality systems.
  • Complete other projects as assigned

What You Need

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree programpursuing relevant degree (computer science, engineering)at an accredited institution, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders and executives
  • Experience using AIAG guidelines (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA)
  • Practical problem solving using: 8D, A3, Fault Tree Analysis, Pareto, 3L-5Y, Is-Is Not, Fish Bone, etc
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Self-Driven, team oriented individual with strong leadership qualities
  • Skilled with MS Office software: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint


What is Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with Automotive OEM
  • Ability to specify, develop, and operate specialized equipment used for product analysis.
  • Ability to calculate and analyze data, and generate reports.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to work in an office in Novi, Michigan.
  • Able to provide your own housing and transportation to/from work.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2024 through August 9, 2024 and be able to work 40 hours per week
