Job/Internship Description
Position Summary

Under supervision of the Cross Connection Coordinator, performs both field and administrative work in implementation and administration of policies surrounding the Prince William County Service Authority's (PWCSA) Cross Connection Control Program.

Position Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in achieving compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures related to PWCSA's Cross Connection Control Program.
  • Performs field inspections and reviews data to ensure compliance; prepares reports; evaluates situations and makes recommendations.
  • Types, composes, proofreads, edits, tracks, and responds to general and specific correspondence, reports, checklists, approval forms, and emails.
  • Operates PWCSA vehicle, as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of a cross connection control program.
  • Ability to read and follow established PWCSA procedures and protocols regarding the duties of the position.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow through with instructions, guidelines, protocols, SOPs, and safety procedures set forth by PWCSA.
  • Possesses and demonstrates general organizational skills.
  • Possesses general technical and mechanical skills to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Possesses intermediate keyboarding skills, being able to comfortably work with technology and on computers (such as Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
  • Possesses and demonstrates thorough knowledge of basic math skills, English usage, standard
    business grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess, track, monitor, and process multiple incoming forms and/or time-sensitive
    documents; ensure appropriate response, review, signature, and/or other necessary action.
  • Must possess and maintain a Valid Driver's License in accordance with PWCSA Policy.
Eligibility:
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited institution. If enrolled in an undergraduate program, must be a junior or senior.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must exhibit a genuine interest in learning about the SA as well as gaining practical work experience.

  • Interested applicants must apply online through the Service Authority's online tracking application system. All applications must be complete. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Applicants must include a short essay as an attachment with the online application (not to exceed one page) explaining your interest in working for the Service Authority (SA) or how an internship at SA will enhance career goals.
  • If selected for an interview, applicants must provide 2 letters of recommendation from faculty and/or former Supervisor prior to being interviewed;
  • If selected for an interview, applicants must provide proof of GPA or official copy of most recent undergraduate or graduate transcript prior to being interviewed
