JOB SUMMARY: The NASA SES III contract provides IT services throughout all aspects of the development and engineering process of the entire space systems arena. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Developer to support the GOES-R GeoGround Project. GOES-R satellites provide critical atmospheric, oceanic, climatic, and solar products supporting weather forecasting and warnings, climatologic analysis and prediction, ecosystems managements, and safe and efficient public and private transportation. The GOES-R satellites also provide platforms for space environmental observations and communication links for remote data collection, satellite aided search and rescue, and other data services. Work Schedule and Location: This is a hybrid position that will require an individual to attend in-person team meetings at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD at least 2 days/week and on an as needed basis. This role may require occasional travel to the GeoGround prime contractor's facility in Melbourne, FL, as well as operational sites.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Investigate cloud-based solutions for data ingest, storage, product generation, science development, and distribution to serve as the secure, reliable, affordable, and scalable foundation for NESDIS operational services. The goal is to be consistent with the NESDIS Cloud Strategy
• Support future cloud migration including cloud-based development and test environments. In particular, support for future evolution to cloud-based data processing, product delivery, and enhanced operations leveraging infrastructure as a service consistent with the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF).
• Implement Cloud Technologies by designing, developing, and testing Ground Segment software components.
• Understand business requirements and perform technical implementations by leveraging knowledge of enterprise applications and technical expertise.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have strong leadership skills and experience leading development teams.
• Must know Development/Security/Operations (DevSecOps), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and Infrastructure as Code (Iac) via Cloud Formation Templates.
• Must be able to use Kubernetes to orchestrate the deployment, scaling and management of Docker Containers.
• Must be able to design, implement and maintain a continuous build-test-deployment (CI/CD) pipeline to support cadence releases based on business needs.
• Good communicator capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team of technologists as well as on an independent and self-directed basis.
• Must demonstrate solid judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation and/or modification of methodologies and tools.
• Must have working knowledge of serverless applications (Lambdas and other scripting in the Cloud environment).
• Travel: This role may require occasional travel to the GeoGround prime contractor's facility in Melbourne, FL, as well as operational sites.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Desired experience with Splunk administration, configuration, and use; installation and upgrade of Splunk and setup up all the required attributes.
• Desired understanding of satellite ground system capabilities.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 12 years of directly related experience in Computer Systems, Computer Engineer, or Software Engineering.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, or Software Engineering.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC) security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
