Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analysis Assistant to join team supporting the Indian Affairs (IA) Business Support Services (BSS). The Financial Analysis Assistant will provide support to the financial analysis team by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial data, preparing reports, and assist in financial modeling and forecasting activities. The financial analyst support for budget execution activities for the Office of Renewable Energy Programs (OREP).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Gather financial data from various sources, including financial statements, databases, and
    industry reports.
  • Utilize various management information systems, including the DOI Financial and Business
    Management System (FBMS) to monitor reconciliation by various OFPSM programs.
  • Recommend adjustments, including the reprogramming or redistribution of funds within budget
    accounts, in response to changes in programs, staffing levels, and/or funds available.
  • Exercise fundamental budget controls through review, analysis of the distribution, obligation,
    and expenditure of funds for IA facilities management programs, including ISDEAA 105(1) leases,
    Great American Outdoor Act (GAOA) funding, and the payment of OFPSM personnel salaries and
    expenses.
  • Gather data and tracks progress of assigned programs or activities; evaluates status and
    presents alternatives and recommendations in problem areas using financial, economic, statistical and workload analysis techniques.
  • Prepare budget and finance reports for OFPSM leadership, including, undelivered orders (UDO),
    Construction Analysis & Progress Evaluation Reports (CAPER), assets under construction (AUC), and
    others, as required. This requires data collection and communication with program staff within
    OFPSM, other Indian Affairs organizations, and the Department.
  • Prepare and generate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reports.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering data, preparing budgets, and analyzing variances.
  • Interpret financial data and provide insights and recommendations to support financial decision-making.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and research projects as needed to support business initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Maintain documentation of financial analysis processes and procedures. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in financial analysis tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Previous experience in financial analysis or related roles preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advance college degree.
  • Related professional certifications.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 -$78,000 annually.
