We are Up to Date Laundry and we want you to join our Transportation Team today!
Up to Date Laundry, established in 1946, is one of the largest healthcare laundries on the east coast, processing close to 60 million pounds of linen each year! We offer comparable wages and exceptional benefits! A full time position, on second shift, that includes pick-up and delivery of linen from and to customer sites, You will drive a tractor-trailer to customer locations, pick up linen for transport to our laundry facility, then deliver it back to our customers. Must have one year tractor-trailer driving experience but all applicants with at least six months driving experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Surround yourself with a great group of team players who enjoy their jobs! Our drivers enjoy a newer fleet of Freightliner truck with A/C and many other comforts while on the road. Our entire fleet is maintained leased trucks and in top shape. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and drive company vehicles, climb up/down of the vehicle cab, stand/walk throughout the shift while loading/unloading vehicles, using arms and hands to reach/grasp carts of clean linen to move them on/off vehicles. Must be able to talk and communicate with co-workers and/or supervisors both in person and on company provided cell phone, actively listen while driving vehicles in order to drive in a safe manner, visually recognize certain items while driving vehicles as well as certain items pertaining to the load/cargo on vehicles. Employees must constantly push linen carts of linen weighing anywhere from 60 to 600 pounds on/off vehicles and throughout the plant on a daily basis.
To provide optimal support to customer, the company operates on weekends and most major holidays and some departments are open 24/7. This position may be scheduled for a specific shift and may require weekend and/or holiday work.

Responsibilities:
- Safe and legal operation of commercial motor vehicles, including tractor and semi-trailer combinations and straight trucks.
- Develop and maintain excellent customer service standards and relationships.
- Clear and effective communication with customer, team members, and management.
- Inspect vehicles and prepare inspection reports according to company policies, as well as State and Federal regulations.
- Prepare and maintain documentation of hours of service, delivery reports, and bills of lading.
- Safe lifting of packages, pushing/pulling linen carts weighing several hundred pounds, and loading/unloading company vehicles.
- Proper load securement according to company policies, safe work practices, and FMCSA regulations.
- The company prefers at least one year of tractor-trailer driving experience but applicants with at least six months driving time are highly encouraged to apply.
- Current Class A CDL issued by the State of Maryland. No restrictions other than "B-Corrective Lenses" required.
- Driving record must be acceptable and not have (1) two or more at fault accidents in the last three years; and (2) one or more major violations in the last five years.
- Must pass a background check without any criminal violations.
- Must be physically capable of safely performing lift, loading, and unloading responsibilities as assigned.
