HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to work on studies that aim to elucidate the genetic and neurobiological basis of alcohol use, addiction, impulsivity, and other psychopathology. This is the first of four levels of clinical research assistants and works under the guidance and direction of senior staff.

This position will be in support of Dr. Joshua Gray's research lab (https://medschool.usuhs.edu/profile/joshua-gray-phd) in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. This research includes collaborations with principal investigators from the University of Pennsylvania, the National Institutes on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and Emory University. An additional key laboratory research area is seeking to understand factors that impact well-being, readiness, and turnover in service members exhibiting harmful alcohol use.

Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.

Responsibilities
    Performs research projects, including the collection, analysis, and organization of data. Follows instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, study protocols, and IRB submissions.
  • Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Maintains clear and accurate data collection records.
  • Coordinate research studies using large open datasets as well as studies involving new data collection. Manage multiple study databases.
  • Use coding software (e.g., R/RStudio), Excel, and SPSS to process, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Collects, processes and refines, analyzes, and maintains appropriate study data.
  • Compiling, reviewing, and editing human genetic data pulled from multiple sources (e.g., Open Targets)
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role, scientific writing, or attending and scheduling meetings.

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic, hospital, or office environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check
