Job Summary

Sam Schwartz, a TYLin Company is seeking an experienced and confident Transportation Engineer with experience in design for our growing Washington DC office. The candidate should be able and willing to lead and help grow our practice in the DC metropolitan area. The candidate will lead various multimodal transportation projects including safety, transportation operations, multimodal planning and analyses, and complete streets/streetscape design.

The successful candidate must be capable of interfacing with clients and successfully leading projects and tasks from initiation to completion and contributing to business development and marketing activities such as writing proposals/scopes and estimating fees.

This position reports to the General Manager, Washington DC market.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Serve as the project manager on transportation engineering projects or tasks
  • Address technical questions/issues.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of project deliverables
  • Prepare technical proposals
  • Work with junior staff to increase the efficiency of the work being prepared
  • Train and mentor junior staff (internal and project training)

Qualifications:

  • A BS or MS degree in civil or transportation engineering
  • 5-10 minimum years of experience in traffic engineering and design, preferably within the Washington, DC metropolitan area, with progressively higher responsibilities
  • Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in DC, MD, or VA.
  • Expertise in CAD (Microstation preferred)
  • Knowledge of MUTCD and local design standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Authorized to work in the US

Sam Schwartz, a TYLin Company, is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range for this position, $87,800-$131,600 annually.
