Aspire is a growing nonprofit organization of the Massachusetts General Hospital. We offer a variety of high-quality therapeutic programs and services that focus on helping children with high cognitive autism spectrum disorders and related profiles develop increased self-awareness, social competency, and stress management skills.

The Transitions Assistant Program Manager is responsible for directly supervising 3-4 transitions specialists. The Assistant Program Manager will be supervised by the Transitions Program Manager. This includes supporting both the participants and the staff, as well as maintaining accurate records, and program policies and procedures. The tasks of the role include: facilitating the implementation of Aspire program curriculum; leading specific activity blocks (e.g., mind/body, social and self-awareness groups); collaborating with transition specialists to develop interventions, supports and strategies for program participants; modifying curriculum as needed; maintaining communication with families and accurate record keeping; and, supporting compliance of program policies and procedures. The Assistant Program Manager is a leadership role that includes leading: an all staff training, weekly curriculum meeting, and coordinating ongoing summer training for program staff. The Assistant Program Manager must be willing to work closely as part of a group and collaboratively with others.

This is a 40 hour per week paid position (located in Lexington and other job-sites) for 6 program weeks that includes 40 hours of mandatory and paid training prior to the start of the program, along with mid-summer parent conferences. Pre-program and ongoing training and supervision is provided by experienced clinical staff. The Transitions Assistant Program Manager is part of the summer leadership staff for the teen and adult programs; attendance at pre-program planning meetings is expected.

Qualifications

* Enrolled in, or graduate of, a graduate program in: psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and other mental health related fields.

  • Prior experience working with adolescents with autism spectrum disorders required.

* Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.

* Openness to receiving feedback on interactional skills with families, participants, and staff.

* Desire and ability to work in outdoor settings

* Basic computer skills. MS Word required; knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access helpful.

* Good basic writing skills.

* Ability to work independently and be flexible.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Strong attention to detail.

  • Problem-solving skills.
