Job/Internship Description

Moffatt & Nichol is actively looking for a Civil Engineering Interns to join our Baltimore office. Interns will provide support to design engineers by being involved in engineering and administration of projects, as well as assisting in obtaining and reviewing information for marine, waterfront and bridge (depending on office location) design and analysis.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and preparation of documents for waterfront civil site development (site layout, grading, storm water, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
  • Assist with design of waterfront facilities with other disciplines (coastal, structural and Inspection/Rehabilitation).
  • Perform design calculations and prepare design drafts
  • Study, evaluate, and document design criteria; research applicable codes, and present findings to project team for implementation
  • Calculate quantities of elements for construction of projects and prepare cost estimates
  • Visit project sites if required
  • Assist with similar duties in other engineering disciplines assigned by Project Managers

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Must be at least a Junior in their Bachelor's program
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Experience using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD through drafting classes or other CAD experience
  • At least one previous related internship preferred but not required
  • All new hires will be required to complete and pass a background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • A copy of unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for the internship.

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
