General Responsibilities
The Health, Science, and Technology Division seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered full-time faculty member to join the Business Department to teach in the field of entrepreneurship.

The successful candidate will teach foundational entrepreneurship courses including Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship & Creativity, Small Business Management, Business Plan Design & Delivery, Principles of Marketing, and Fundamentals of Selling. The candidate may also teach courses in the business discipline including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, Business Ethics, Business Analysis for Decision Making, Principles of International Business, Principles of Management, and Project Management.

Additionally, the candidate will work to grow and develop the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program and the Center for Entrepreneurial & Business Excellence (CEBE) and will lead the annual Rocket Pitch Competition. The candidate must be interested in growing the department's outreach and presence in the local business and entrepreneurship community. The candidate should have a passion for teaching; a solutions-oriented, growth mindset; comfort with design thinking; and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Applicants must be willing to teach day or evening courses face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

The teaching load is 15 credits per semester. Release time may be available for program coordination and/or CEBE leadership. In addition, faculty are expected to maintain at least five (5) office hours per week while class is in session and accept other responsibilities as described below.
Work Performed
  • Teach courses in entrepreneurship and business, day or evening, in multiple modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, and flexible online.
  • Prepare syllabi and Canvas sites
  • Develop and update course materials
  • Participate in program management and learning outcome assessment initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, course coordinators and staff to implement departmental programs
  • Provide service to the department, division, and college
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings; keep informed
  • Respond promptly to requests for information and assistance from students and college administrators
  • Participate in commencement ceremonies and other significant institutional events
  • Pursue teaching improvement and professional development
  • Work cooperatively, respectfully, and effectively with peers, support staff, and administrators; use appropriate communication channels
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local business community

Minimum Education Required Master's degree

Other Knowledge Required
Required:
  • Minimum of a master's degree in entrepreneurship, business, or related field
  • Prior business and/or entrepreneurship experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of college level teaching experience (community college preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience using a range of teaching and learning methods/pedagogies
  • Demonstrated success in creating inclusive learning environments of belonging
  • Evidence of outstanding interpersonal skills, including ability to engage with, teach, and learn from a diverse range of students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and flexibly, and to take ownership and accountability in work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; demonstrated ease with technology
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications
Preferred:
  • Significant prior business and/or entrepreneurial experience
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience
  • Connected with Howard County business and entrepreneurship community
Working Conditions
  • This is a 10-Month Position.
  • Hours Per Week: 37.5
  • Work Schedule: Based on course load.
  • Compensation: Starting rank, and starting salary within rank, depend on teaching experience and other qualifications. Includes excellent medical insurance and other benefits. This position is not overtime eligible.
