Old Republic Surety Company is currently seeking a Surety Marketing Representative to join its Marketing Team in our Northeast Commercial Region (Maryland, Delaware, Eastern PA, Washington D.C. and northern Virginia). In general, the Surety Marketing Representative is responsible for traveling the assigned territory and making effective marketing calls to agents in order to meet personal and company production goals.
Essential duties for the role are as follows:
- Generate new business, within an assigned territory, by promoting Old Republic's products and services to prospective agencies.
- Vet and appoint new agencies. Once appointed, provide the agencies with an onboarding experience and training on the online processing of bond requests, renewals, and cancellations.
- Increase premium with existing agencies by building upon relationships and by educating the agencies on ways to refine the shared book of business. Coordinate management visits with key agencies.
- Collaborate with adjacent territories on the development of account-based Surety programs, ensuring consistent messaging is used.
- Keep management advised of market factors; e.g. trends in the local economy, rates & commissions, agency prospects, non-performing agencies, territory-specific bond needs, etc.
- Make budget recommendations to management; e.g. premium & loss projections, ways to reduce controllable expenses, assessments of the staff to agency ratio, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a High School Diploma with at least four years of prior related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates who live anywhere in the assigned territory are encouraged to apply.
Working as a Surety Marketing Representative requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
